BrightSide Theatre is seeking an organized, upbeat, and youth‑focused Stage Manager for our Fall 2026 Youth Project production of Trolls Jr. This is a fantastic opportunity for a theatre professional who enjoys working with young performers and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced rehearsal environment.
Rehearsal Period: Mid/Late August – October 2026
Performance Dates: All performances at Meiley‑Swallow Hall: October 3 & 4/October 10 & 11 and Saturdays at 11 and 2 pm and Sundays at 6 pm
Rehearsal Location: BrightSide Theatre Rehearsal Studio 1989 University Lane, Unit D, Lisle, IL
Performance Venue: The Theatre at Meiley‑Swallow Hall 31 S. Ellsworth Ave., Naperville, IL
Rehearsal Schedule
- Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 6:00–7:30 pm
- Occasional Thursdays: 6:00–7:30 pm
- Saturdays: 12:00–2:00 pm
- Sundays: 1:00–4:00 pm
Responsibilities
- Manage daily rehearsal operations and maintain a positive, structured environment
- Track blocking, choreography, and technical notes
- Maintain communication between the Director, Music Director, Choreographer, production team, and families
- Oversee attendance and rehearsal reports
- Run tech week and may call all cues during performances
- Support young performers with professionalism, clarity, and patience
Ideal Candidate
- Prior stage management or theatre production experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working with students ages 8–18
- Calm, proactive, and collaborative
- Able to manage multiple moving parts with a positive attitude

BrightSide Theatre is seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and youth‑centered Vocal Director for our Fall 2026 Youth Project production of Trolls Jr. This role is ideal for a music educator or theatre artist who loves developing young voices and creating a fun, supportive rehearsal environment.
Position: Vocal Director – Trolls Jr.

- Provide notes, guidance, and musical leadership during performances
- Foster a positive, confidence‑building environment for students ages 8–18
Ideal Candidate
- Experience in vocal direction, music education, or musical theatre including playing the piano to teach all vocal parts and harmony
- Strong understanding of youth vocal development and safe singing practices
- Clear communicator who works well with young performers and families
- Collaborative, patient, and energized by a creative team environment

Responsibilities

Design costumes that support the Director’s artistic vision while capturing the vibrant, whimsical world of Trolls Jr.

Create costume renderings, sketches, or visual references to communicate design concepts.

Work collaboratively with the Director, Production Manager, and production team throughout the rehearsal process.

Pull, build, purchase, alter, or coordinate costumes while remaining within the approved production budget.

Incorporate wigs, accessories, and costume pieces as needed to complete each character’s look.

Take measurements and coordinate costume fittings for performers ages 8–18.
-
Oversee costume organization, maintenance, repairs, and laundry throughout the production.

Attend production meetings, designer run, technical rehearsals, performances, load-in, and strike.

Foster a positive, encouraging, and educational experience for young performers.
Ideal Candidate

Previous costume design experience for theatre productions required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Strong sewing and garment alteration skills.

Creative eye for character, color, and storytelling through costume.

BrightSide Theatre seeks a Production Manager
BrightSide Theatre, now in its 14th season, is Naperville’s Only Professional Theatre.
This is a monthly stipend/paid position for local applicants – we do not provide housing.
Duties of the production manager include but are not limited to:
- Plan, schedule and conduct production meetings to help make decisions and allocate responsibilities
- Be present for all 1st rehearsals, designer runs, load in, all tech rehearsals, opening night
- Create and track all details around the production schedule including:
- Reading and responding to all rehearsal and performance reports
- Rent and drive a truck for load in and strike
- Communicate with designers to organize/schedule the load in and strike
- Establish the need and coordinate identifying overhire crew
- Track overall progress of designers and be of assistance to all during tech week as necessary to stay on time for tech elements.
- Act as point of contact with technical staff at performance rental spaces
- Suggest solutions for technical difficulties.
- Keep track of expenses/budget for each design area
- Schedule and run post post-mortem for each show
- Assist with box office/pre-show set up on Opening Night and any other designated performance as needed and agreed upon.
The qualified candidate will have strong Project Managements skills, problem solving skills, clear communication both verbal and written, time management and budget tracking skills, with some theatre technical knowledge to help offer guidance or research solutions to technical problems. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, the willingness to learn, and a team focused approach.
