Who

Seeking strong child and adult actors that are 6-65+ years of age. Local hires only (no housing or travel provided). We encourage Trans and Gender Non-Conforming performers to audition as genders listed as those of the character, not the performer.
When
In Person Auditions will be on Monday, January 27th 6:30pm-9:30pm at BrightSide Theatre’s Rehearsal Studio, 1989 University Lane, Unit D, Lisle, IL 60532. Sign up for a time at HERE Prepare a 32-bar cut of a song that shows off your acting strengths as well as vocal range. An accompanist will be provided. Bring dance clothes/shoes if asked to stay for choreography. Bring your Headshot/Resume.
Callbacks will be by invite only the evening of Monday, February 3.
Time Commitment
Rehearsals will begin April 27, 2025 and take place on Sunday through Thursday evenings. Not all cast is called to each rehearsal. Tech week is June 8 – June 12. No rehearsal conflicts will be accepted for tech week or any performances.
Performances
All performances will be at the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall on the Campus of North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth in Naperville. Opening 6/13/25; Closing 6/29/25 (Fri/Sat evenings at 8pm and Sat/Sun matinees at 2pm – 12 performances total)
Pay Rate: $300 Stipend
Casting Breakdown
Role Available for 1 Boy aged 6-10
Theo (identifies as male aged 6-10) Catherine’s son. Loud and not shy in the slightest. Says the word “dumbass”
Roles Available for Adults Ages 18-65+
Leading Player: (any gender identity) The ultimate “ringleader.” Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through their own story and tries to intervene at the end. Excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience.
Pippin: (Identifies as male) Our story’s young and confused protagonist. They are longing to find their purpose in life. Naïve, innocent, and disconnected. Eventually finds love and meaning in life with Catherine and Theo
Charlemagne/Player: (identifies male) Pippin’s demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. They wear their years with great pride.
Lewis/Player: (identifies as male) Charlemagne and Fastrada’s son. Strong and not bright. Pippin’s half-brother and after Pippin, heir to the throne. Vain, self-assured, and is proud to be their father’s ideal soldier.
Fastrada/Player: (identifies as female) Pippin’s conniving stepmother. A seductress who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, they are both sexy and smart. Skilled at using their sexual appear to benefit them and their child, Lewis.
Berthe/Player: (identifies female) Pippin’s saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace and sass. They try to help Pippin and encourage them to live their life to the fullest.
Catherine/Player: (identifies female) A widow and mother. They are a hopeless romantic who posses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at their lowest and eventually falls in love with them.
Players: (any gender identity) Strong Singers and Strong Dancers. They comprise of the ever-wandering troupe who find people like Pippin to tempt, entertain and cajole for that person to choose the grandest finale of all time.
